Toshio Kodaka, one of the Founders of Tokyo Electron (TEL), passed away at his residence in Tokyo on Friday, March 24, 2023. In sharing this sad news, we would like to express our deepest gratitude for the kindness shown by everyone during his lifetime.
The wake and funeral were attended mainly by close relatives, and we refrained from making an announcement until after these services were completed. By express wish of the bereaved family, no flowers, offerings, incense money, condolence telegrams, or condolence calls will be accepted. Your kind understanding is highly appreciated.

1959 Graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Keio University and joined Nissho Co., Ltd. (current Sojitz Corporation).
1963 Convinced that semiconductors would transform the industry, established Tokyo Electron Laboratories, Inc. (current Tokyo Electron) jointly with Tokuo Kubo with a capital of 5 million yen.
1980 President and representative director of Tokyo Electron
1994 Chairman of Tokyo Electron
1996 Retired from Tokyo Electron
1998 Together with Tokuo Kubo (both were then Corporate Advisors), received the title of “Founder” from Tokyo Electron as a token of the company’s perpetual appreciation for their accomplishments.
